Hello, Welcome to my web site.
My name is Jay Rosenblatt. I build guitars in a small shop in West Orange, New Jersey. I also provide quality repair services to keep your finer guitars in proper condition.
I have been building instruments since 1999. I build primarily acoustic finger style guitars though my archive includes romantic-era guitars, parlor guitars, Weissenborn lap steel, Kasha classical, Ramirez style classical, Gypsy jazz and other experimental guitars.
I build primarily by hand and minimal machining. The necks are carved by hand. The body woods are selected for their quality, stability, color and grain. My jigs, forms and patterns are shop made. Finishes are typically hand applied French polish. (organic polished shellac)
For the soundboards I choose woods that are lively and responsive to the touch way before they become an instrument. My favorite body and side tonewoods are rosewoods, maples, Lutz spruce, Sitka and Swiss alpine spruces, redwoods and western red cedar.
I strive for a balance between tonality, playability and feel. All instruments are created with the highest regard to craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Thank you, Jay

Maybe I will see in you in Woodstock next year! Hopefully you will have your own booth.

Hey Dr. J
Nice meeting and playing with you at the Kitchen this past Sunday. When you said you build guitars, you build guitars. Love your site. I have a Yamaha 12-strihg acoustic that needs some minor work done on it. Could you suggest anyone?
Keep in touch,
